Immigration Department extends telephone booking services
17 March 2004
From today (March 17), the Immigration Department is extending its telephone bookings service to include appointments for submitting applications for travel documents or extensions of stay. The new service applies to Immigration branch offices.
The telephone number is 2598 0888.
Appointments can still be made via the Internet at www.esd.gov.hk.
"The public can now make appointments at any time by using touch-tone dial telephones," an Immigration Department spokesman said.
The appointment booking services are free of charge.
By using the booking service, members of the public can save time by avoiding queuing at Immigration branch offices to make appointments.
"They can make a maximum of four appointments in one booking," the spokesman said. "They can select appointments within 12 working days of the day they make the booking. And they can change or cancel the appointments later.
"Also, the existing appointment booking service through the same telephone number or the ESD Scheme for registration of identity cards at the Registration of Persons Offices has been enhanced by advancing the earliest appointment day to the next working day," the spokesman said.
For further information, visit the Immigration Department website, www.immd.gov.hk, or call the department's hotline 2824 6111.
