Details of the fifth cycle of ID card replacement exercise released

An Order announcing details of the fifth cycle of the Hong Kong Smart Identity (ID) Card Replacement Exercise has been issued by the Secretary for Security.
The Immigration Department said today (June 8) that subject to the negative vetting procedure of the Legislative Council, the arrangement for the fifth cycle would be as follows:

"The Immigration Department has been issuing smart ID cards since June 2003. If you have already obtained a smart ID card at our Registration of Persons Office, there is no need for you to have your smart ID card replaced under this exercise," the spokesman added.
