Assistance to HK Residents Unit to adopt new hotline number
12 August 2005
The Immigration Department's Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit will introduce a new four-digit hotline number "1868" with effect from next Monday (August 15). It will replace the existing eight-digit number - 2829 3010.
"The new number is more simple and easy to remember. Hong Kong residents who are in distress while travelling outside Hong Kong may contact the local Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Mission or call the new 24-hour hotline (852) 1868," a spokesperson for the Immigration Department said.
The telephone numbers and addresses of the Chinese Embassies/Chinese Consulates-General overseas are available on the Immigration Department's website http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/embassy.htm.
During the transitional period, all calls to the existing hotline number (852) 2829 3010, will be diverted automatically to the new hotline number until the end of this year.
