Application for entry from Macao Residents
Introduction
Under the present immigration regulations, other than persons having the "right of abode" or "right to land" in Hong Kong, any person who wishes to come to Hong Kong for residence should obtain an appropriate entry permit before coming.
Entry application from Macao residents for residence
For a sponsor who is a Hong Kong permanent resident or a resident who is not subject to a limit of stay (i.e. a resident with the right to land or on unconditional stay), the following dependants may apply to join him/her for residence in Hong Kong:
(a) his/her spouse; (b) his/her unmarried dependent child under the age of 18; and (c) his/her parent aged 60 or above.
For a sponsor who has been admitted into Hong Kong to take up employment or full-time study in undergraduate or post-graduate programme in locally degree-awarding institutions, or who is permitted to remain in Hong Kong as a capital investment entrant or an entrant under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, the following dependants may apply to join him/her for residence in Hong Kong:
(a) his/her spouse; and (b) his/her unmarried dependent child under the age of 18.
An application for entry to take up residence as a dependant may be favourably considered if:
(a) there is reasonable proof of a genuine relationship between the applicant and the sponsor; (b) there is no known record to the detriment of the applicant; and (c) the sponsor is able to support the dependant's living at a standard well above the subsistence level and provide him/her with suitable accommodation in Hong Kong.
Dependants of persons who have been admitted into Hong Kong to study are not permitted to take up employment in Hong Kong.
Macao residents who wish to enter Hong Kong for residence as dependants may submit application form ID(E)936 by mail to the Other Visas and Permits Section (dependants of persons admitted under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme may submit the applications to Quality Migrants and Mainland Residents Section on 7/F of Immigration Tower) together with :-
