Four Hong Kong residents among injured in the explosion incident at dangerous goods depots in Tianjin

Regarding media enquiries concerning the explosion incident at dangerous goods depots in Tianjin, the Immigration Department (ImmD) today (August 13) responded as follows:

After learning of the explosion incident at dangerous goods depots in Tianjin, ImmD had immediately contacted the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China in Beijing (Beijing Office) to understand the situation. Through information from relevant Mainland authorities via the Beijing Office, ImmD confirmed, as at 8pm today, that four Hong Kong residents were injured in the incident so far. ImmD has contacted the injured residents and rendered practical assistance according to their situation and wish. Two of the injured had been discharged from hospital after treatment, while the other two were receiving treatment in local hospitals.

ImmD will maintain close contact with the Beijing Office and the injured residents to closely monitor the situation and render practical assistance.
