Extension of voice-navigated e-Channel service to Shenzhen Bay Control Point

24 April 2015

The Immigration Department announced today (April 24) that with effect from April 27, an e-Channel equipped with a voice navigation function will be operational at both the Arrival Hall and Departure Hall of Shenzhen Bay Control Point (SBCP), with a view to facilitating visually impaired persons to perform self-service immigration clearance. They may locate the voice navigated e-Channels using the Braille maps installed at SBCP and follow the tactile guided paths leading to the voice navigated e-Channels for self-service immigration clearance.

A spokesperson for the Immigration Department said that after the launch of the voice-navigated e-Channel service at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point in September 2013 the service was extended to Macau Ferry Terminal Control Point in April 2014. In keeping with the development and testing processes of the voice-navigated e-Channel system, the Immigration Department has maintained close links with organisations connected with visually impaired persons to collect feedback on the operation and implementation of the voice-navigated e-Channels, so as to provide greater convenience for visually impaired persons.
