Who Can Use This Service

Generally speaking, visitors must depart Hong Kong before the expiry of their limit of stay. If there is a special/urgent need to stay longer, visitors may apply online for extension of stay when their remaining limit of stay is within 14 days. Applications will be considered on its own merits.

Given the lead time required for processing, applicants should apply online for extension of stay as soon as possible.

However, you are not eligible* to use the service if:

  1. you are not physically present in Hong Kong at the time of submission;
  2. you will not be physically present in Hong Kong at the time of collection of your "e-Visa";
  3. your limit of stay will expire within 3 days;
  4. your limit of stay has expired;
  5. your previous condition of stay was foreign domestic helper, and you are permitted to change your condition of stay to remain in Hong Kong as a visitor;
  6. you are staying in Hong Kong as Hong Kong non-permanent resident (e.g. on employment or student condition of stay in Hong Kong).
