Extension of voice-navigated e-Channels to Macau Ferry Terminal Control Point

15 April 2014

The Immigration Department announced that, with effect from tomorrow (April 16), e-Channels equipped with a voice navigation function will be operational at the Macau Ferry Terminal (MFT) Control Point, with a view to assisting visually impaired persons to perform self-service immigration clearance. There will be one voice-navigated e-Channel in the Arrival Hall and another in the Departure Hall.

A spokesperson for the Immigration Department said that after the initial launch of the voice-navigated e-Channel at the Departure Hall of Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point (LSCCP) in September 2013, one more voice-navigated e-Channel was installed at the Arrival Hall of LSCCP in January 2014. Positive feedback was received on the convenience that these e-Channels offered to visually impaired persons.

Visually impaired persons may locate the voice-navigated e-Channels by using the Braille maps installed at the MFT. They may follow the tactile guide paths leading to each of the voice-navigated e-Channels for self-service immigration clearance.
