Attention: If you are a registered elector and consent to transfer your personal particulars to the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) for the purpose of verifying the relevant particulars in the electoral register, this Department will only transfer your relevant personal particulars to the REO after you have completed the Hong Kong identity card application/replacement process at Registration of Persons Offices or have completed notification of change of particulars previously registered/change of address. If any alteration of the particulars in the electoral register is required, the REO would separately inform you of the relevant procedures. Unless you have separately submitted the required specified form and the relevant documentary proof to the REO, your registration particulars in the electoral register will not be changed due to this Hong Kong identity card application/replacement or notification.
The statutory deadline to apply for change of particulars for the electoral register falls on 2 June every year. As it takes time for the REO to process, the REO recommends that even if electors have given consent to the Immigration Department to transfer their personal particulars to the REO, electors should separately submit to the REO the specified form for applications for change of particulars with the required documentary proof by 2 June every year. For details on change of registration particulars, please visit the REO’s website (vr.gov.hk) or call their hotline (2891 1001).
